First, a couple weeks ago, USDA announced a final deadline for sign up for the ’22 ERP disaster program. That deadline is about a week away from today, August 14, 2024! This deadline will apply to Track 2 applications. Beware – ERP ’22 is a very messy program… the ground has shifted and it will likely shift again because of a pending court case. Regardless, we are advising farmers who think they might qualify (even if for a little bit) to complete the application so they are in the system. As with all government programs, this one is flawed. The most glaring flaw is certified mixed forage or alfalfa that was not insured. This unintended consequence will reduce the expected revenue factor from 90% to 70% which will most cased kick out any needed disaster funds. Our agency is working our contacts to rectify this but with the deadlines looming it does not look like it will be fixed any time soon if at all. The most important thing is to file your application prior to August 14th! We will update you on any progress.
Please contact Morgan Barton to complete your ERP application. As always, call us with any questions.
Second, Cash Hail Deadline is August 15th. We hope to have all the billings out this week, if you have not received your billing, please call the office to facilitate. Your payment can be made by via internet which will post the day you pay it, or by mailing a check. If you mail your payment, please make sure that it is post-marked prior to August 15th (most small towns do not postmark, usually in Fargo) so make sure to get it mailed a few days prior to insure proper crediting. The cash hail discount is significant at 5%, so make sure you take advantage of this opportunity.

Third, the adjusting staff is working diligently to get replant and prevent plant claims worked in a timely fashion as a reminder:
- Replant claims are paid out unless you elect to have them credit the policy premium
- Prevent plant claims will be paid on a net basis after subtracting out the policy premium
Hail Claims
If you have pending hail claims, you must pay your hail premium prior to the company paying your hail claim in order to receive the cash discount!
