In a word – challenging.  This has been the theme since the farm bill passage last December so why would the harvest be any different?  Over the last three weeks our office has been deeply involved with conveying North Dakota issues to our D.C. counterparts, RMA administrators, and legislators.  We continue to try and find common ground on the disaster program known as WHIP+.  To date (in North Dakota) we have seen the Top Up payments being mailed out from the companies.  This resulted in either a 10% or 15% increase depending on your crop insurance election.  We will continue to lobby to bring more assistance to our farmers in these stressful times.

In the meantime, we do not want to forget that we can update our yields for the crop years 2013-2017 courtesy of the farm bill.  We also have ARC/PLC elections to make.  Our office now has time to help you with both of these vital issues.  We will not recommend making your elections until you have to (right now it looks like March). This will allow you to have the most data possible to make decisions.

We have our spreadsheets made and we are able to use Texas A&M and NDSU calculators as well.

YOU NEED TO REQUEST FROM FSA YOUR FORM FSA-156EZ FOR ALL YOUR FARM NUMBERS.  THIS WILL ALLOW US THE INFORMATION NEEDED TO PROVIDE YOU WITH UPDATED YIELDS, AND ELECTIONS.  YOU CAN EMAIL THESE FORMS TO US AND WE WILL START IMMEDIATELY PROCESSING YOUR DATA FOR YOU.  IF YOU CANNOT EMAIL THEM FAX, OR SNAIL MAIL WILL DO AS WELL.
